Art is simply defined as a means of self expression through the skillful use of media. It generally requires the ability  to apply, synthesis and assemble materials and conceived ideas. However, visual literacy  implies having aesthetic awareness and ability to appreciate visual arts. Art education on the other hand, is the application of art principles to the field of education/learning.
Art unarguably is central to all forms of education, therefore it is  imperative that every teacher acquires competence in art to be able to effectively make illustrations  to transform ideas from abstracts to  concrete realm for better pedagogy. As an institution vested with the mandate to train teachers, it will be worthwhile to expose every student to basic drawing course so as to  equip them adequately for the task of teaching.
